  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to tax-forfeited lands; providing that net 
  1.3             proceeds apportioned to a municipal subdivision may be 
  1.4             used for general purposes; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.5             1998, section 282.05. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 282.05, is 
  1.8   amended to read: 
  1.9      282.05 [PROCEEDS APPORTIONED.] 
  1.10     The net proceeds received from the sale or rental of 
  1.11  forfeited lands shall be apportioned to the general funds of the 
  1.12  state or municipal subdivision thereof, in the manner 
  1.13  hereinafter provided, and shall be first used by the municipal 
  1.14  subdivision to retire any indebtedness then existing in section 
  1.15  282.08.  
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective for net proceeds received after the 
  1.18  date of final enactment of this act.
