  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to drivers' licenses; prohibiting refusal to 
  1.3             issue or renew driver's license because the licensee 
  1.4             or applicant wears bioptic lenses; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1998, section 171.13, by adding a subdivision.
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 171.13, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 7.  [BIOPTIC LENSES.] The commissioner may not refuse 
  1.10  to issue or renew a driver's license, and may not revoke, 
  1.11  suspend, or cancel a driver's license already issued, solely on 
  1.12  the grounds that the licensee or applicant wears bioptic 
  1.13  lenses.  This subdivision does not limit the authority of the 
  1.14  commissioner to impose restrictions on the license under section 
  1.15  171.09.
