A bill for an act
relating to health; requiring the commissioner of health to study the cost of
installing separate temperature controls in individual nursing facility rooms.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The commissioner of health, in consultation with the commissioner of human
services, shall study the cost of installing separate temperature controls for heating
and cooling within each resident's room in a nursing facility. The study must include
information on the number of nursing facilities and resident rooms without separate
temperature controls, and an analysis of the relative cost and efficiency of different
methods to allow temperature regulation in individual resident rooms. The commissioner
shall present findings and recommendations to the legislature by February 1, 2010.
