A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating funds for summer youth
employment.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $1,325,000 is appropriated each year in fiscal years 2010 and 2011 from the
workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic
development for grants to fund summer youth employment in Minneapolis. The grants
shall be used to fund up to 500 jobs for youth each summer. Of this appropriation,
$325,000 each year is for a grant to the learn-to-earn summer youth employment program.
The commissioner shall establish criteria for awarding the grants. This appropriation is
available in either year of the biennium and is available until spent.
