A bill for an act
relating to workforce development; appropriating money to the White Bear Center
for the Arts for a paid high school internship program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin WHITE BEAR CENTER FOR THE ARTS; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $1,200,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to White Bear Center for the Arts,
a nonprofit serving the Greater Northeast Metro region, for establishing a paid internship
program for high school students to learn professional development skills through an arts
perspective, overcoming barriers such as cost, equipment, and transportation that prevent
youth from low-income families and underrepresented communities across Minnesota from
pursuing careers in nonprofits and the arts. This is a onetime appropriation.
