A bill for an act
relating to game and fish; establishing an early bow fishing season; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 97C.376, subdivisions 1, 2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 97C.376, subdivision 1, is amended to read:


Subdivision 1.

Season.

nonresidents is from deleted text begin May 1deleted text end new text begin the last Saturday in Aprilnew text end to the last Sunday in February at
any time of the day.

new text begin (b) The early bow fishing season for residents and nonresidents is open only south
of State Highway 210 from the Monday after the last Sunday in February to the Friday
before the last Saturday in April at any time of the day. During the early season, a person
may bow fish:

new text begin (1) only from a boat; and
new text end

new text begin (2) only while on a lake or on the Mississippi, Minnesota, or St. Croix Rivers.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 97C.376, subdivision 2, is amended to read:


Subd. 2.

Possession of bows and arrows.

A person may possess bows and arrows for
the purposes of bow fishing on or within 100 feet of waters at any time from deleted text begin May 1deleted text end new text begin the last
Saturday in April
new text end to the last Sunday in Februarynew text begin and at other times on lakes and the rivers
south of State Highway 210 as specified in subdivision 1, paragraph (b)

ordinances. A person must take reasonable measures to retrieve arrows and wounded fish.
