  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education finance; clarifying the 
  1.3             relationship between Century College and intermediate 
  1.4             school district No. 916; authorizing a grant; 
  1.5             appropriating money.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [AGREEMENTS.] 
  1.8      Notwithstanding Laws 2000, chapter 489, article 11, section 
  1.9   6, or any other law, intermediate district No. 916 and Century 
  1.10  College may mutually agree to enter into any arrangement for the 
  1.11  lease or use of space at Century College. 
  1.12     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2001. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [TRANSFER OF PROPERTY.] 
  1.14     Intermediate school district No. 916 must convey the 
  1.15  transition wing building located on the Century College campus 
  1.16  to the board of trustees of the Minnesota state colleges and 
  1.17  universities for $1. 
  1.18     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2001. 
  1.19     Sec. 3.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.20     (a) $8,095,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2002 from the 
  1.21  general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.22  learning for a grant to intermediate school district No. 916 and 
  1.23  the board of trustees of the Minnesota state colleges and 
  1.24  universities. 
  1.25     (b) Of the amount appropriated in paragraph (a), $5,095,000 
  2.1   is for intermediate school district No. 916 to purchase, 
  2.2   lease-purchase, lease, or otherwise obtain special education and 
  2.3   administrative facilities to replace the space currently 
  2.4   occupied in the transition wing at Century College. 
  2.5      (c) Of the amount appropriated in paragraph (a), $3,000,000 
  2.6   is for a grant to the board of trustees of the Minnesota state 
  2.7   colleges and universities to renovate the transition wing 
  2.8   facility at Century College. 
  2.9      [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2001.
