A bill for an act
 relating to natural resources; requiring contract to design electric fish barrier.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ELECTRIC FISH BARRIER.

new text begin The commissioner of natural resources shall enter into a contract to design an
electric fish barrier using the most modern technology available for fish dispersal systems.
The electric fish barrier must include a sweeping or active field barrier with sonar capable
of being reconfigured into a graduated field fish barrier. The electric fish barrier shall be
located at United States Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, Lock and Dam 1. The
commissioner shall award the contract no later than March 15, 2014.
