  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to libraries; appropriating money for basic 
  1.3             system support grants and multicounty, multitype 
  1.4             library systems. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      Subdivision 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND 
  1.8   LEARNING.] The sums indicated in this section are appropriated 
  1.9   from the general fund to the department of children, families, 
  1.10  and learning for the fiscal years designated. 
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [BASIC SYSTEM SUPPORT GRANTS.] (a) For basic 
  1.12  system support grants according to Minnesota Statutes, sections 
  1.13  134.32 to 134.35: 
  1.14      $12,000,000     .....     2000 
  1.15      $12,000,000     .....     2001 
  1.16     (b) In each year $100,000 to Minneapolis, $100,000 to St. 
  1.17  Paul, and $50,000 to Duluth is for preservation of special 
  1.18  collections. 
  1.19     (c) In each year $250,000 shall be awarded on a competitive 
  1.20  grant basis by the office of library development and services.  
  1.21  Up to 2.5 percent of the amount each year may be used by the 
  1.22  office of library development and services to administer this 
  1.23  program. 
  1.24     Subd. 3.  [MULTICOUNTY, MULTITYPE LIBRARY SYSTEMS.] For 
  1.25  grants according to Minnesota Statutes, sections 134.353 and 
  2.1   134.354, to multicounty, multitype library systems:
