  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime; providing that offenders sentenced 
  1.3             to the Camp Ripley work program are eligible for 
  1.4             credit for prior incarceration; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1998, section 609.113, by adding a 
  1.6             subdivision. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 609.113, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 4a.  [CREDIT FOR PRIOR INCARCERATION.] When sentence 
  1.11  is imposed under this section, the court shall ensure that the 
  1.12  record accurately reflects all time spent in custody in 
  1.13  connection with the offense or behavioral incident for which 
  1.14  sentence is imposed.  Such time shall be automatically deducted 
  1.15  from the sentence, including time spent in custody as a 
  1.16  condition of probation from a prior stay of imposition or 
  1.17  execution of sentence. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective August 1, 1999, and applies to 
  1.20  sentences imposed for crimes committed on or after that date.
