A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; appropriating money for agricultural nutrient research.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; AGRICULTURAL NUTRIENT RESEARCH.

new text begin $600,000 in fiscal year 2010 and $600,000 in fiscal year 2011 are appropriated from
the constitutionally dedicated clean water fund established in Minnesota Statutes, section
114D.50, to the commissioner of agriculture for grants to the Minnesota Agricultural
Fertilizer Research and Education Council established in Minnesota Statutes, section
18C.71. The Minnesota Agricultural Fertilizer Research and Education Council shall
award competitive grants for research, education, and technology transfer related to the
production and application of agricultural fertilizer, soil amendments, and other plant
amendments. Funded projects must contain an outreach component that achieves a timely
dissemination of findings and their applicability to the production agricultural community.
