  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; transferring the 
  1.3             farmer-lender mediation program to the Minnesota 
  1.4             extension service; removing the sunset of the 
  1.5             Farmer-Lender Mediation Act; amending Minnesota 
  1.6             Statutes 1998, section 583.22, subdivision 5; 
  1.7             repealing Laws 1986, chapter 398, article 1, section 
  1.8             18, as amended. 
  1.9   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.10     Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 583.22, 
  1.11  subdivision 5, is amended to read: 
  1.12     Subd. 5.  [DIRECTOR.] "Director" means the director of 
  1.13  the conflict and change center at the University of Minnesota's 
  1.14  Humphrey Institute Minnesota extension service or the director's 
  1.15  designee. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.17     Laws 1986, chapter 398, article 1, section 18, as amended 
  1.18  by Laws 1987, chapter 292, section 37; Laws 1989, chapter 350, 
  1.19  article 16, section 8; Laws 1990, chapter 525, section 1; Laws 
  1.20  1991, chapter 208, section 2; Laws 1993, First Special Session 
  1.21  chapter 2, article 6, section 2; Laws 1995, chapter 212, article 
  1.22  2, section 11; Laws 1997, chapter 183, article 3, section 29; 
  1.23  Laws 1998, chapter 395, section 7; and Laws 1998, chapter 402, 
  1.24  section 6, is repealed. 
  1.25     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.26     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1999, and section 2 is 
  1.27  effective the day following final enactment.
