A bill for an act
relating to energy; authorizing a grant to the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa to
study the feasibility of a renewable energy facility.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin BOIS FORTE BAND OF CHIPPEWA RENEWABLE ENERGY
GRANT.

new text begin From the appropriation in fiscal year 2008 for the ethanol development program
under Minnesota Statutes, section 41A.09, the commissioner of agriculture shall make
a grant of $300,000 to the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa for a feasibility study of a
renewable energy biofuels demonstration facility on the Bois Forte Reservation in St.
Louis and Koochiching counties.

new text begin The grant shall be used by the Bois Forte Band to conduct a detailed feasibility study
of the economic and technical viability of developing a multistream renewable energy
biofuels demonstration facility on Bois Forte Reservation land to utilize existing forest
resources, woody biomass, and cellulosic waste to produce ethanol and/or butanol for use
as a liquid fuel source or a gasoline supplement and oxygenation agent.
