  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Ramsey county; making changes in the 
  1.3             personnel process; amending Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.4             section 383A.289, by adding subdivisions; repealing 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1998, sections 383A.288; and 
  1.6             383A.289, subdivisions 1, 2, and 3. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 383A.289, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 4.  [APPLICATION AND SCREENING PROCESS.] Entrance to 
  1.11  the classified service must be made through an open application 
  1.12  and screening process according to rules adopted under section 
  1.13  383A.284, subdivision 1. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 383A.289, is 
  1.15  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.16     Subd. 5.  [UNDER RULES.] The personnel director must 
  1.17  prepare eligible lists according to rules adopted under section 
  1.18  383A.284, subdivision 1. 
  1.19     Sec. 3.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.20     Minnesota Statutes 1998, sections 383A.288 and 383A.289, 
  1.21  subdivisions 1, 2, and 3, are repealed.
