  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; establishing a class size 
  1.3             project in independent school district No. 12, 
  1.4             Centennial; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [CLASS SIZE PROJECT.] 
  1.7      A class size project is established in independent school 
  1.8   district No. 12, Centennial.  The purpose of this project is to 
  1.9   establish that significantly lower class size and 
  1.10  instructor-to-learner ratios in a suburban community will result 
  1.11  in measurable achievements for students, staff, and parents. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.13     The following sums are appropriated from the general fund 
  1.14  for the fiscal years designated to the department of children, 
  1.15  families, and learning for a grant to independent school 
  1.16  district No. 12, Centennial, for the class size project: 
  1.17       $180,220     .....     2000 
  1.18       $179,130     .....     2001 
  1.19     Any balance remaining in the first year does not cancel but 
  1.20  is available in the second year.
