  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to school buses; limiting authority to 
  1.3             operate certain school buses without a school bus 
  1.4             endorsement; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.5             171.321, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 171.321, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [ENDORSEMENT.] (a) No person shall drive a 
  1.10  school bus when transporting school children to or from school 
  1.11  or upon a school-related trip or activity without having a valid 
  1.12  class A, class B, or class C driver's license with a school bus 
  1.13  endorsement except that. 
  1.14     (b) Notwithstanding paragraph (a), a person possessing a 
  1.15  valid driver's license but not a school bus endorsement may 
  1.16  drive a vehicle with a seating capacity of ten or less persons 
  1.17  used as a school bus but not outwardly equipped or identified as 
  1.18  a school bus, for transportation other than scheduled 
  1.19  transportation of students to and from school.
