A bill for an act
relating to education; appropriating money for a preschool program and home
visiting program for children diagnosed with mental illness or developmental
delays.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $500,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $500,000 in fiscal year 2009 are appropriated
from the general fund to the commissioner of education for the biennium beginning July
1, 2007, for a program in underserved counties designed to ensure school readiness
for children from birth to kindergarten and their families who are at risk of or have
been diagnosed with mental illness or developmental delays due to fetal alcohol or drug
exposure, child neglect, or abuse, to ensure school readiness of these children.
