  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to motor fuels; allowing natural gasoline as 
  1.3             petroleum component in E85 fuel; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 2000, section 296A.01, subdivision 19.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 296A.01, 
  1.7   subdivision 19, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 19.  [E85.] "E85" means a petroleum product that is a 
  1.9   blend of agriculturally derived denatured ethanol and 
  1.10  gasoline or natural gasoline that typically contains 85 percent 
  1.11  ethanol by volume, but at a minimum must contain 60 percent 
  1.12  ethanol by volume.  For the purposes of this chapter, the energy 
  1.13  content of E85 will be considered to be 82,000 BTUs per gallon.  
  1.14  E85 produced for use as a motor fuel in alternative fuel 
  1.15  vehicles as defined in section 296A.01, subdivision 5, must 
  1.16  comply with ASTM specification D 5798-96.
