A bill for an act
relating to counties; providing for the costs of
certain actions relating to children; proposing coding
for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 393.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

REMOVAL.

new text begin If a county, through its local social services agency or
other county authority, removes a child from its parental home
and the removal is found by the district court to be
inappropriate, after a hearing where the county, the parents,
other interested parties, and witnesses may be heard, the county
shall be liable for all costs related to the removal, including
the attorney fees and other legal costs of the parents and the
costs of care for the child while in county control during the
period of removal.
