  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to data practices; making public the names of 
  1.3             elected officials who register property complaints; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 13.44. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 13.44, is 
  1.7   amended to read: 
  1.8      13.44 [PROPERTY COMPLAINT DATA.] 
  1.9      The identities of individuals who register complaints with 
  1.10  state agencies or political subdivisions concerning violations 
  1.11  of state laws or local ordinances concerning the use of real 
  1.12  property are classified as confidential data, pursuant to under 
  1.13  section 13.02, subdivision 3; except that the identities of 
  1.14  elected officials and public officials who register such 
  1.15  complaints are public data under section 13.02, subdivision 15.
