  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; allowing extended deer 
  1.3             hunting period for certain sick minors; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 97B.301, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 97B.301, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6a.  [RESIDENTS UNDER AGE 16; EXTENSION DUE TO 
  1.10  ILLNESS.] A resident under the age of 16, who cannot hunt in a 
  1.11  permit area or deer season because of illness, may be allowed a 
  1.12  two-day hunting period beyond the season prescribed by the 
  1.13  commissioner, as long as the period falls within the confines of 
  1.14  section 97B.311, paragraph (b).  The illness must be documented 
  1.15  and signed by the minor's physician, with a copy sent to the 
  1.16  commissioner before the end of the calendar year.
