relating to human services; establishing the Taylor Hayden Gun Violence
Prevention Act; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin TAYLOR HAYDEN GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION ACT.

new text begin This act may be cited as the "Taylor Hayden Gun Violence Prevention Act." To reduce
the number of injuries and deaths of innocent individuals in the community and to increase
community safety, the commissioner of human services shall develop a competitive bidding
process to award grants to nonprofit organizations with expertise in gun violence prevention.
A nonprofit organization awarded a grant must use the money for gun violence prevention
or public awareness and education campaigns on gun violence prevention.

new text begin $200,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $200,000 in fiscal year 2021 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of human services to provide grants described in section
1.
