A bill for an act
relating to state government; establishing legislator premiums for the state
employee group insurance program; amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section
43A.24, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 43A.24, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Premiums for legislators. new text end

new text begin If a legislator chooses to participate in the
state employee group insurance program, the monthly premium to be paid by the legislator
for individual coverage is ten percent of the total premium for individual coverage, and for
dependent coverage 15 percent of the total premium for dependent coverage. However, a
legislator must pay the monthly amount of the required employee premiums under the
commissioner of management and budget's plan for unrepresented state employees if
those premiums are higher than the rates set in this subdivision.
