  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; requiring kindergarten through 
  1.3             grade 12 supervisory personnel to teach at least one 
  1.4             one-term course per school year; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1998, section 122A.15, subdivision 2. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 122A.15, 
  1.8   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2.  [SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL.] "Supervisory personnel" 
  1.10  for the purpose of licensure means superintendents, principals, 
  1.11  and professional employees who devote 50 percent or more of 
  1.12  their time to administrative or supervisory duties over other 
  1.13  personnel, and includes athletic coaches.  As a condition of 
  1.14  maintaining their licensure as supervisory personnel, all 
  1.15  supervisory personnel must teach at least one one-term course 
  1.16  per school year in a subject matter area in which the person is 
  1.17  qualified and competent. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective for the 1999-2000 school year and 
  1.20  thereafter.
