A bill for an act
relating to state lands; requiring conveyance of certain surplus state land in
Schmidt Wildlife Management Area.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin CONVEYANCE OF SURPLUS STATE LAND; HENNEPIN COUNTY.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 94.09 to 94.16 and 97A.135,
subdivision 2a, the commissioner of natural resources shall convey to the city of
Champlin, for no consideration, the Schmidt Wildlife Management Area land described in
paragraph (c).

new text begin (b) The conveyance must be in a form approved by the attorney general. The
attorney general may make necessary changes to the legal description to correct errors
and ensure accuracy. The city shall pay for all transaction costs associated with the
conveyance and maintain the land as open space.

new text begin (c) The land to be conveyed is located in Hennepin County and is described as
follows:

new text begin (1) part of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 36, Township
120, Range 22 (parcel identification numbers 36 120 22 34 0002 and 36 120 22 34
0003); and
new text end

new text begin (2) the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter, except road, of Section 36,
Township 120, Range 22 (parcel identification number 36 120 22 32 0001).

new text begin (d) The Department of Natural Resources has determined that the lands are not
needed and the state's land interests would best be served if the lands were conveyed to a
local unit of government to be maintained as open space.
