  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; requiring records of physical 
  1.3             examinations for student athletes to be on file at 
  1.4             high schools; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 128C. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [128C.25] [PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS.] 
  1.8      A student who intends to participate in high school 
  1.9   interscholastic athletics or cheerleading activities must have 
  1.10  on file at the school a record of a physical examination 
  1.11  performed by a physician licensed under chapter 147, a nurse 
  1.12  practitioner licensed under chapter 148 practicing within the 
  1.13  context of a mutually agreed-upon collaborative management plan, 
  1.14  or a physician assistant registered under chapter 147A 
  1.15  practicing within the context of a physician-physician assistant 
  1.16  agreement.  The physician, nurse practitioner, or physician 
  1.17  assistant performing the examination must be trained in 
  1.18  assessing the following areas:  cardiovascular, respiratory, 
  1.19  pulmonary, gastrointestinal, dermatological, genitourinary, 
  1.20  musculoskeletal, neurological, and high-risk behaviors.  The 
  1.21  Minnesota state high school league shall adopt a standard 
  1.22  examination form to be used by physicians, nurse practitioners, 
  1.23  or physician assistants performing these examinations.
