  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; authorizing a levy for 
  1.3             independent school district No. 14, Fridley. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [LEVY; FRIDLEY.] 
  1.6      For taxes payable in 2004 and thereafter, independent 
  1.7   school district No. 14, Fridley, may levy an amount equal to the 
  1.8   costs of operating its community center building, or $30 times 
  1.9   its adjusted marginal cost pupil units, whichever is less, to 
  1.10  promote the colocation of city and school district services.  
  1.11  The commissioner may deny or revoke this levy authorization if 
  1.12  the district and the city of Fridley are not colocating 
  1.13  government services. 
  1.14     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective for revenue for 
  1.15  fiscal year 2005 and thereafter. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [LEVY RECOGNITION.] 
  1.17     For taxes payable in 2004 only, independent school district 
  1.18  No. 14, Fridley, may also levy an amount equal to the revenue 
  1.19  that would have been generated by section 1 for fiscal year 2004 
  1.20  and may recognize that revenue for fiscal year 2004. 
  1.21     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective for revenue for 
  1.22  fiscal year 2005 and thereafter.
