A bill for an act
relating to education finance; providing supplemental aid for transportation,
nutrition, English learners, and special education; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin SUPPLEMENTAL PUPIL TRANSPORTATION AID.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 126C.10, subdivision 18a, for fiscal year
2023 only, the commissioner of education must adjust the pupil transportation adjustment
from 18.2 percent to 100 percent.

Sec. 2. new text begin SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION AID.

new text begin For fiscal year 2023 only, in addition to the amounts provided for school lunch under
Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.111, and school breakfast under Minnesota Statutes,
section 124D.1158, the commissioner must provide supplemental nutrition aid to participants
in the national school breakfast and lunch programs. A participant's supplemental nutrition
aid equals the participant's fiscal year 2022 actual expenditures for providing school breakfast
and lunch, minus the participant's fiscal year 2022 state breakfast and lunch aid, minus the
participant's fiscal year 2022 federal breakfast and lunch aid.
