  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education funding; authorizing a grant to 
  1.3             independent school district No. 330, Heron 
  1.4             Lake-Okabena; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [SOUTHWEST STAR CONCEPT SCHOOL; GRANT.] 
  1.7      (a) $179,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2000 from the 
  1.8   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.9   learning for a grant to independent school district No. 330, 
  1.10  Heron Lake-Okabena. 
  1.11     (b) The purpose of the grant is to continue to develop the 
  1.12  Southwest Star Concept School authorized under Laws 1997, First 
  1.13  Special Session chapter 4, article 3, section 22. 
  1.14     (c) The grant may be used to expand the school's technology 
  1.15  department, music and fine arts program, theater program, arts 
  1.16  program, and health and physical education program. 
  1.17     (d) This appropriation is available until June 30, 2001. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1999.
