  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; prohibiting taking a wild 
  1.3             animal with a firearm within 500 feet of an occupied 
  1.4             building on public land without permission; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 97B.001, subdivision 
  1.6             7. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 97B.001, 
  1.9   subdivision 7, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 7.  [TAKING WITH FIREARMS IN CERTAIN AREAS.] (a) A 
  1.11  person may not take a wild animal with a firearm within 500 feet 
  1.12  of a building occupied by a human or livestock without the 
  1.13  written permission of the owner, occupant, or lessee:  
  1.14     (1) on another person's private land; or 
  1.15     (2) on public land; or 
  1.16     (3) on a public right-of-way.  
  1.17     (b) A person may not take a wild animal with a firearm 
  1.18  without the permission of the owner, occupant, or lessee, within 
  1.19  500 feet of a stockade or corral containing livestock.  
  1.20     (c) A person may not take a wild animal on any land where 
  1.21  the person is prohibited from entering by this section.
