A bill for an act
relating to public safety; broadening eligibility criteria for peace officer
reciprocity licensing exam to include certain persons in active military service;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 626.8517.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 626.8517, is amended to read:


626.8517 ELIGIBILITY FOR RECIPROCITY EXAMINATION BASED ON
RELEVANT MILITARY EXPERIENCE.

(a) For purposes of this section, "relevant military experience" means five years of
active duty military police service.

(b) A person who has relevant military experience and whonew text begin is currently serving in
