  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to elections; prohibiting candidates from 
  1.3             accepting certain contributions; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 2000, section 10A.27, subdivision 11. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 10A.27, 
  1.7   subdivision 11, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 11.  [CONTRIBUTIONS FROM CERTAIN TYPES OF 
  1.9   CONTRIBUTORS.] A candidate must not permit the candidate's 
  1.10  principal campaign committee to accept a: 
  1.11     (1) any contribution from a political committee, or 
  1.12  political fund,; or 
  1.13     (2) a contribution from a lobbyist, or large contributor, 
  1.14  if the contribution will cause the aggregate contributions from 
  1.15  those types of contributors to exceed an amount equal to 20 
  1.16  percent of the expenditure limits for the office sought by the 
  1.17  candidate.  For purposes of this subdivision, "large 
  1.18  contributor" means an individual, other than the candidate, who 
  1.19  contributes an amount that is more than $100 and more than 
  1.20  one-half the amount an individual may contribute.
