  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state-administered financial assistance; 
  1.3             providing for a catalog of available programs; 
  1.4             appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 4A. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [4A.11] [CATALOG OF STATE-ADMINISTERED 
  1.8   FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS.] 
  1.9      The office of strategic and long-range planning shall 
  1.10  prepare and provide to the state legislature each biennium a 
  1.11  catalog of state-administered financial assistance programs 
  1.12  available to communities, counties, nonprofit organizations, and 
  1.13  research institutes.  The catalog must include a brief 
  1.14  description of the type of assistance available, source of 
  1.15  funding, eligibility requirements, application deadlines, 
  1.16  matching requirements, and anticipated available funding for the 
  1.17  biennium; the number of grants or loans approved and the number 
  1.18  of applications received during the past biennium; and the name 
  1.19  of the state agency as well as the mailing address, electronic 
  1.20  mail address, telephone number, fax number, and contact person 
  1.21  responsible for providing application information. 
  1.22     The catalog of state-administered financial assistance must 
  1.23  be made available upon request to any interested individual, 
  1.24  organization, or political subdivision of the state at a price 
  1.25  equal to the per-unit cost of printing the catalog. 
  2.1      Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  2.2      $100,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  2.3   office of strategic and long-range planning for the preparation 
  2.4   and publication of the catalog of state-administered financial 
  2.5   assistance.  The appropriation is available until June 30, 2000.
