A bill for an act
relating to state government; establishing observance of India Day; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 10.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin August 15 of each year is designated India Day to commemorate the end of British rule
in India and to celebrate the culture, heritage, and traditions of India. This date is a time for
the Indian-American community to celebrate the country and people of India and their
contributions to our state. The culture, traditions, and values of this community have
contributed to the vitality of Minnesota. Each year, the governor shall issue a proclamation
honoring the observance and encouraging citizens to take the opportunity to learn about
and appreciate the Indian-American community and their contributions to Minnesota.
