A bill for an act
relating to disaster assistance; providing a grant to the city of Hugo for tornado
relief; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS; HUGO TORNADO.

new text begin The legislature finds that the EF-3 tornado that struck the city of Hugo on May 25,
2008, resulted in the loss of life and damage to homes and property of over $22,000,000,
and that none of the costs of this disaster qualified for federal disaster assistance.

Sec. 2. new text begin HUGO TORNADO DISASTER RELIEF APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $438,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of employment
and economic development for fiscal year 2010 for a grant to the city of Hugo to be used
for relief from damages caused by the EF-3 tornado on May 25, 2008.
