A bill for an act
 relating to education; appropriating money for school districts to develop science,
technology, engineering, and math (STEM) based courses.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin STEM COURSE GRANTS; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin The sums indicated in this section are
appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education in the fiscal year
designated.

new text begin For school districts to provide STEM-based courses:

new text begin The commissioner must determine the form and manner of application and award
criteria. Grant awards are limited to $75,000 per course. Any balance in the first year does
not cancel but is available in the second year of the biennium.
