A bill for an act
relating to crime; modifying crime and increasing sentence of interfering with
a body or scene of death; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 609.502,
subdivision 1, by adding a subdivision.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 609.502, subdivision 1, is amended to read:

This section is effective August 1, 2016, and applies to crimes
committed on or after that date.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 609.502, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

A person convicted under subdivision 1, clause (2) or (3), is
guilty of a gross misdemeanor. A person convicted under subdivision 1, clause (1), may
be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than three years or to a payment of a fine
of not more than $5,000 or both.

This section is effective August 1, 2016, and applies to crimes
committed on or after that date.

This act shall be known as "Laura's Law."
