A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; appropriating money for grants for meat and poultry
processor training.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin MEAT AND POULTRY PROCESSOR TRAINING GRANTS;
APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $100,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of agriculture for grants or other forms of technical assistance to meat and poultry processors
to reimburse the cost of attending courses or training and receiving technical assistance in
fiscal year 2024 that supports developing sanitation standard operating procedures, hazard
analysis and critical control points plans, or business plans. A meat processor with 50
full-time equivalent employees or fewer is eligible for grant money under this section. This
is a onetime appropriation.
