A bill for an act
 relating to human services; requiring the commissioner of human services to
appoint a special advisor on behavioral health.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin DIRECTION TO COMMISSIONER OF HUMAN SERVICES; SPECIAL
ADVISOR ON BEHAVIORAL HEALTH.

new text begin The commissioner of human services shall appoint an individual to serve as the special
advisor on behavioral health. The special advisor will advise the commissioner and relevant
deputy and assistant commissioners in the Department of Human Services directly on policy
and budget proposals related to addressing behavioral health treatment needs statewide.
The special advisor appointed by the commissioner must have extensive behavioral health
policy expertise and relevant and appropriate employment experience and qualifications.
