A bill for an act
relating to workforce development; appropriating money for the creation of an
online hospitality training program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ONLINE HOSPITALITY TRAINING PROGRAM; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $275,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to the University of Minnesota
Tourism Center for the creation and operation of an online hospitality training program in
partnership with Explore Minnesota Tourism. This training program must be made available
at no cost to Minnesota residents in an effort to address critical workforce shortages and
assist in career development. Of this amount, $25,000 is for maintenance and management
of the training website and online training program. In fiscal year 2024 and beyond, the
base amount is $25,000 for that ongoing maintenance and management.
