relating to claims against the state; providing for settlement of certain claims;
appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The amounts in this section are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of corrections in fiscal year 2018 for full and final payment under Minnesota Statutes,
sections 3.738 and 3.739, of claims against the state for losses suffered while incarcerated
in a state correctional facility or for injuries suffered by and medical services provided to
persons injured while performing community service or sentence-to-service work for
correctional purposes or while incarcerated in a state correctional facility. This appropriation
is available until June 30, 2018:

new text begin (1) for sentence-to-service and community work service claims under $7,000 and other
claims already paid by the department, $965;

new text begin (2) for payment to Philip Berg for permanent injuries to his right ring finger while
performing assigned duties at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Stillwater, $1,125;

new text begin (3) for payment to Kurt Bird for permanent injuries to his right index finger while
performing assigned duties at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Stillwater, $9,350;

new text begin (4) for payment to Eloy Cantu for permanent injuries to his right leg while performing
assigned duties at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Stillwater and payment to medical
providers for his treatment, $3,729.79;

new text begin (5) for payment to medical providers for treatment of James Comstock who was injured
performing assigned duties at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Stillwater, $4,209.30;

new text begin (6) for payment to Joseph Kamm for permanent injuries to his right thumb while
performing assigned duties at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Faribault, $3,750;

new text begin (7) for payment to Clinton Karnes for permanent injuries to his left ankle while at
Minnesota Correctional Facility - Stillwater, $3,000;

new text begin (8) for payment to Mark Knudsen for permanent injuries to his left ring finger while
performing assigned duties at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Togo, $750; and

new text begin (9) for payment to Colten Rosendahl for permanent injuries to his left thumb while
performing assigned duties at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Moose Lake, $9,350.
