A bill for an act
relating to education finance; authorizing a grant to expand the programming of
the Promise Neighborhood of Central Minnesota; requiring a report; appropriating
money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for the fiscal years
designated.

new text begin (a) For a grant to the United Way of Central
Minnesota, as fiscal host for the Promise Neighborhood of Central Minnesota:

new text begin (b) The Promise Neighborhood of Central Minnesota must use this grant to support
community collaborations focusing on enhancing students' academic success outside of the
ordinary school day. Grant funding may be used for staff costs, pupil transportation costs,
and outreach activities.

new text begin (c) By February 15, 2018, and by February 15 of every subsequent even-numbered year,
the Promise Neighborhood of Central Minnesota shall submit to the chairs and ranking
minority members of the legislative committees with primary jurisdiction over kindergarten
through grade 12 education a report describing the activities funded by the grant, changes
in outcome measures attributable to the grant-funded activities, and the recipient's program
plan for the following year.

of Central Minnesota.
