A bill for an act
relating to health; appropriating money for regional poison information center
grants.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; MINNESOTA POISON INFORMATION
CENTERS.

new text begin $800,000 in fiscal year 2016 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of health for regional poison information center grants under Minnesota
Statutes, section 145.93, and is added to the base. The grant funding shall be used for:

new text begin (1) maintaining and enhancing staffing sufficient to meet national accreditation
standards;
new text end

new text begin (2) health care provider education and training in toxicology and poison control;
new text end

new text begin (3) public health surveillance of emerging toxicology and poison issues; and
new text end

new text begin (4) poison control outreach, prevention, and education efforts, in cooperation
with local public health agencies and the Department of Health, targeted to children,
disadvantaged communities, and immigrants.
