relating to agriculture; establishing a farm safety program; appropriating money;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 17.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin The commissioner must establish and maintain a farm
safety program to provide information to farmers regarding the range of safety challenges
faced by farmers, their family, and their hired workers. The commissioner must provide
a clearinghouse of relevant information via the department's Web site and must actively
promote the program to farmers and farm organizations.

new text begin No later than February 1 each year, the commissioner must report
program activities and accomplishments to the chairs and ranking minority members of
the legislative committees with jurisdiction over agriculture policy and finance.

new text begin $100,000 in fiscal year 2017 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of agriculture for purposes of section 1.
