A bill for an act
relating to public safety; requiring sheriffs to report injuries to jailers to the
Bureau of Criminal Apprehension; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 641.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin A sheriff shall furnish to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension a report for each
incident that results in a job-related injury to a correctional guard employed by the sheriff.
By February 1 of each even-numbered year, the commissioner of public safety shall report
to the chairs and ranking minority members of legislative committees with oversight
authority over local correctional facilities a summary of information received from sheriffs
under this section for the two-year period ending the prior December 31.
