A bill for an act
relating to transportation; making a conditional appropriation for school transit
passes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin SCHOOL TRANSIT PASSES; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) This section applies if legislation is enacted in the 2013 legislative session
authorizing a new sales and use tax in the metropolitan area, or in a substantially similar
geographic area, and the tax is imposed.

new text begin (b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, $2,500,000 is annually appropriated to
the Metropolitan Council from the revenues identified in paragraph (a) for a portion of
the costs of Metropolitan Council programs to provide passes for regular route service
under an agreement with a school district.

Sec. 2. new text begin REVISOR'S INSTRUCTION.

new text begin If the legislation identified in section 1, paragraph (a), is enacted, the revisor of
statutes shall codify section 1, paragraph (b), as Minnesota Statutes, section 473.408,
subdivision 11.
