A bill for an act
relating to data practices; classifying law enforcement data from other
jurisdictions; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 13.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

JURISDICTIONS.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter and section 15.17, except as
provided in paragraph (b) or (c), data received by an agency with the power to arrest or
serve warrants in this state from an agency with the power to arrest or serve warrants in
another jurisdiction are not subject to disclosure and a request for access to the data must
be referred to the agency in the jurisdiction from which the data originated.

an adult, the data are governed by chapter 13.

state involving a child, the data are governed by chapter 260B.
