A bill for an act
relating to metropolitan government; requiring proportional distribution by
Metropolitan Council of any transit reductions; amending Minnesota Statutes
2010, section 473.375, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 473.375, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Reductions in services or assistance; apportionment. new text end

new text begin When a
metropolitan transit budget, levy, or appropriation is decreased, and when that decrease
reduces transit services or assistance to local units of government under sections 473.371
and 473.449, the Metropolitan Council must apportion the reduction among local units
of government. Each recipient's share of the reduction must be in proportion to that
recipient's share of total metropolitan transit services and assistance to local units of
government immediately before the reduction.
