A bill for an act
relating to state government; requiring an annual report by the attorney general on
activities of the office; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter
8.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

By July 15 of each year, the attorney general must submit a report to the chairs and
ranking minority members of the committees in the house of representatives and the senate
with jurisdiction over judiciary, civil law, or criminal law. The report must list all legal
proceedings in which the constitutionality of a state statute has been challenged. For each
case, the report must describe the statute being challenged, the attorney general's efforts to
defend the constitutionality of the statute, the status of the case, the staff time ascribed to
the case, and the cost to the attorney general for the work on the case over the fiscal year
ending on June 30 before the report date.
