A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for purposes relating to
restoration of the State Capitol Building and the Ford Building; authorizing the
issuance of general obligation bonds.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; CAPITOL RESTORATION; FORD BUILDING.

new text begin (a) $6,100,000 is appropriated from the bond proceeds fund to the Capitol Area
Architectural and Planning Board for:

new text begin (1) completion of the design for interior restoration of the east wing of the Capitol
Building;
new text end

new text begin (2) full restoration of the dome of the Capitol Building; and
new text end

new text begin (3) design of the interior restoration of the west wing of the Capitol Building.

new text begin (b) $....... is appropriated from the bond proceeds fund to the commissioner of
administration for renovation of the Ford Building so the building can be used as
temporary office space during restoration of the Capitol.

Sec. 2. new text begin GENERAL FUND APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $....... is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2007 to the commissioner
of administration for temporary office relocation costs and office reoccupancy costs
related to interior restoration of the east wing of the Capitol Building. This appropriation
is available until expended.

Sec. 3. new text begin BOND SALE.
new text end

new text begin To provide the money appropriated by section 1, from the bond proceeds fund, the
commissioner of finance shall sell and issue bonds of the state in an amount up to $....... in
the manner, on the terms, and with the effect prescribed by Minnesota Statutes, sections
16A.631 to 16A.675, and by the Minnesota Constitution, article XI, sections 4 to 7.
